The Salt Lake Buddhist Temple is proud to present the annual Obon Festival on Saturday July 11. This year marks the 90th anniversary of the festival in Salt Lake City! This event brings together many members of the community as volunteers and dancers to help make the event a success.
What is Obon? Every summer we celebrate a uniquely American version of the Japanese Obon Festival. Along with traditional folk dancing known as Bon Odori, a variety of food, drinks, and entertainment may be offered. All attendees are encouraged to “just dance" as we remember those who have passed on and enjoy the present moment together.

To produce an event of this size featuring the participation of hundreds of people, we rely heavily on volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to help this year please click here.
We wish to thank our many sponsors of this event. Without them this event is not possible.
